Collateral Design

Learning collateral includes print and digital performance support assets — job aids, quick reference guides, infographics, and presentations — that reinforce and extend training.

Full Definition

Learning collateral is the ecosystem of supporting resources that exists around a core training programme. These assets are designed for reference at the point of need rather than for structured learning — they include job aids, quick reference cards, infographics, facilitator guides, posters, and branded presentations.

Well-designed collateral bridges the forgetting curve between formal training events and on-the-job application. When a learner completes an eLearning module, they should have a one-page job aid to return to when they face the real situation for the first time.

In instructional design, collateral is often the last thing designed but the most frequently used. An employee who completed a compliance training six months ago will rely on a well-placed reference poster far more than their memory of the original course.

Aktrea designs collateral as a strategic extension of training programmes — ensuring brand consistency, instructional clarity, and visual quality that reflects the seriousness of the content.
