Custom Learning
Custom learning is bespoke training content designed and developed specifically for an organisation's unique context, culture, people, and business objectives.
Full Definition
Custom learning — also called bespoke learning — refers to training programmes that are designed and developed from the ground up for a specific organisation. Unlike off-the-shelf courses, custom learning is built around the client's actual processes, culture, branding, case studies, and learner profiles.
The investment in custom learning is justified when the training requirement is specific enough that generic content would require so much contextualisation as to be ineffective. High-stakes programmes — leadership development, compliance with specific regulations, complex product training — almost always demand custom solutions.
Custom learning follows a design process: needs analysis, learning objectives definition, instructional design and storyboarding, content development, review cycles, and quality assurance before launch. The ADDIE model and Agile design sprints are common frameworks.
Aktrea's custom learning practice covers the full development lifecycle — from discovery and content strategy through to final production in eLearning, video, simulation, and print formats.
